Mountains are at the source of the water cycle. The precipitation it receives feeds the rivers to our seas and oceans.
80 to 90% of rubbish that ends up in the sea originates on land.
In terms of volume, most of the waste found in the mountains is plastic. Degradation of these materials leads to microplastic pollution that ends up in our natural environment and in our rivers. Metals come in second place as a result of personal consumption but also from the ski area activities and construction sites.
Eliminating reduces the impact on biodiversity, decreases pollution, especially of water, and is therefore beneficial to our health.
Our actions
Making pocket ashtrays available at our awareness-raising events and at the ski lift ticket offices: 1 cigarette butt in the ashtray equates to 500 litres of water saved.

As of this winter 2022-2023, we are removing rubbish bins from the ski area. Hold on to your rubbish and dispose of it / recycle it at the bottom of the resort where bins are provided for you.
According to the 2021 report by the "Mountain Riders National Mountain Waste Reduction Programme", plastic waste accounts for 45% of the waste found in nature. 18% of waste is metal, 5% is textile, 3% is rubber, 4% is glass ceramics, 6% is wood and 14% the rest.
For 1 cigarette butt discarded = 500 L of water polluted.
100% of the cigarette butt is recyclable... And yet...
In France, 24% of people smoke an average of 12.5 cigarettes per day. 25% of these cigarettes end up as cigarette butts on the ground.
40% of maritime waste is cigarette butts.
