The dismantling of abandoned facilities is one of the priority projects in the environmental strategy of 16 eco-commitments unveiled by Domaines Skiables de France in 2020 aimed at preserving the mountains.
Last year, it was in St Jean de Sixt that the operation took place with the dismantling of a 300m long draglift and 5 pylons, with the help of teams from Labellemontagne Manigod, the Le Grand Bornand ski lift company and the La Clusaz tourist development and operating company.
The teams dismantled the Terreaux draglift in Mont Piton in the borough of Fillière. It is managed by an association called “Motpit” made up of volonteers. However, its operation has been suspended since autumn 2016 for safety and regulatory reasons.
The Terreaux draglift was built by MONTAGNER in 1970. It provided access to 1 blue run and consisted of 6 pylons for 116 m of elevation gain.
So on Wednesday 5th October, the team of 10 people took part in dismantling this ski lift (metallic structure). The cable was removed by us and in the case of the two stations and the pylons, skips were made available at the foot of the installation for the municipality to manage.
