OUR RAISON D'ÊTRE
Grand Massif Domaines Skiables, a fine mountain company, committed, respectful and passionate about sustainable satisfaction and safety for all!
piste Cascades
During the summer of 2024, Le Grand Massif employees were fully involved in a collective process to define what drives us
This shared reflection highlighted our values, our commitments and our vision for the future.
Towards ISO 9001 certification

In 2023, we launched the ISO 9001 certification process to lay a solid foundation for our organization. The objectives of this initiative are to:

  • Facilitate company management, by providing a clear, structured vision.
  • Identify our processes, and the roles and responsibilities of each, to reinforce collective efficiency.
  • Lay the foundations for continuous improvement, to optimize our performance and results.

This quality approach forms a common basis for all the actions undertaken by GMDS, in particular :

  • Developing a shared safety culture.
  • Improving key performance indicators.
  • Smoother exchanges and communication between our teams.

A link to our QSE policy will be available as soon as it has been validated; it is currently being updated.

Strongly Improve

Employee Safety (AF2S)
At the end of 2023, one thing is clear: the number of accidents involving our employees is too high, and the majority of these incidents are linked to human behavior.

Faced with this situation, Grand Massif decided to strengthen its safety culture by calling on specialist external support from www.empowerment-center.fr.

Concrete actions have been deployed to anchor this approach:

  • Weekly communication of safety results, accompanied by targeted action plans.
  • Setting up feedback committees to share and learn from real-life situations.
  • Organization of safety meetings at all levels of the company, because we believe that talking about safety means improving safety.

Strongly Improve

Safety on the slopes (AFSP)
This approach was prompted by a dramatic accident in 2022. An in-depth investigation of the circumstances revealed some major lessons.

These results paved the way for an ambitious thesis:

  • Literature searches to understand best practices.
  • Sociological survey to analyze behavior and internal culture.
  • Study in the professional environment to compare our practices with those of the sector.
  • Customer survey with over 12,000 respondents, to integrate their expectations and perceptions.

A wake-up call: it’s time to act!

This reflection laid the foundations for a far-reaching transformation, focused on safety, responsibility and continuous improvement.

And safety on

Our lifts?
Since 2017, GMDS has been certified by an external firm commissioned by Domaine Skiable de France on the implementation of its safety management system (SGS), which is one of the improvement tools dedicated to ski lifts
  • RM speed control and emergency stop with Freeman remote control
  • Deployment of vigilance cameras to close chairlift railings
  • Timing belts to regulate boarding on TS trains
  • Personnel deployed on arrival of MRs to assist with disembarkation.
  • Maintenance of our facilities between May and October, with major inspections every 5 years, annual inspections, voluntary improvements and equipment renovation to enhance user safety.
