PeakRace is a new walking and flying competition that will take place from August 28 to 30, 2026, featuring two formats so there’s a challenge for everyone.

Description

PEAKRACE Elite (Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 30)
A stage race designed for experienced pilots familiar with hike-and-fly and cross-country flying, featuring 3 legs, a time-based ranking, no assistance, and listed on the FAI Category 2 calendar.

PEAKRACE Mini (Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30)
A friendly and accessible format for discovering competition: a steep climb, a flight, and precision landing. Ideal for getting started in hike-and-fly, with a very fun format.

Beyond the race, PeakRace also features an event village, a screening of Tanguy Renaud-Goud’s film about his Xalps experience—“The Strategy of Failure”—a pilots’ dinner, a concert, and Skywalk equipment tests, all in a friendly atmosphere.

7:00 PM: Mandatory general briefing

-> Friday, August 28 – Race Day 1

8:00 AM: Briefing
9:00 AM: Race start
12:00–3:00 PM: Passage through the intermediate turnpoint and aid station
4:00 PM: First runners cross the finish line
7:00 PM: Screening of Tanguy Renaud-Goud’s film “The Strategy of Failure” + discussion


-> Saturday, August 29 – Race Day 2

7 a.m.: Registration
8 a.m.: Briefing
9 a.m.: Start of the Mini and Elite races
11 a.m.: First finishers of the PeakRace Mini
12 p.m.–3 p.m.: Passage through the intermediate turnpoint and PeakRace Elite refueling
4:00 PM: First runners finish the PeakRace Elite
7:00 PM: Concert and dinner for the runners at the base camp


-> Sunday, August 30 – Race Day 3
8:00 AM: Briefing
9:00 AM: Start of the Mini and Elite races
11:00 a.m.: First runners in the PeakRace Mini cross the finish line
12:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.: Pass through the intermediate turnpoint and PeakRace Elite refueling station
4:00 p.m.: First runners in the PeakRace Elite cross the finish line
7:00 p.m.: Awards ceremony


-> Throughout the weekend, the landing site will feature:

- a refreshment stand,
- partner booths,
- equipment demonstrations,
- inflation demonstrations,
- as well as an area where the public can follow the race and learn about paragliding.

Localisation

From the Samoëns tourist office, walk down to the parking lot below the skating rink to take the impasse des drugères. At the end of this, take the footpath to the right of the MMV Residence. At the end of the path, take the crosswalk. The path is suitable for PRMs.

Access by shuttle bus in summer and winter, more information from the Samoëns tourist office, accessible for wheelchair users.

Free PRM parking nearby.
