Reforesting our forests:

Offsetting our residual C02 emissions and taking action for biodiversity.
In 2019, in Magland and Nancy sur Cluses, almost 180 ha of forest were impacted by the storm. 75 ha of these forests are privately owned, the rest belonging to the communes.

Grand Massif Domaines Skiables is voluntarily financing the reforestation of private forest plots affected by the 2019 storm, in conjunction with the Magland and Nancy-sur-cluses forest owners’ associations.

This project is financed by the sale of the Grand Massif piste map for €1.

Some of these operations will be awarded the “Bas-Carbone” label, a French government standard for certifying the contribution made by companies and local authorities to CO2 sequestration projects in the forest. The aim is to encourage silvicultural itineraries that go beyond conventional ones, enabling additional carbon to be captured.

These actions are part of Grand Massif Domaines Skiables’ action plan to offset its residual carbon emissions and promote biodiversity.
