Hiking in the Fer-à-Cheval Cirque
The region is a paradise for walkers. Several marked trails allow you to go hiking in Sixt at your own pace:
  • The Cirque Trail: an easy walk (1.5 hour round trip) suitable for the whole family, offering splendid views of the waterfalls and limestone cliffs.
  • The climb to the Rouget waterfall: known as the “Queen of the Alps”, this spectacular waterfall can be reached via a path that takes around 1.5 hours (one way) from Sixt, with a 250 m elevation gain.
  • The Boret Chalets Panoramic Circular Trail: for experienced hikers (3.5 hours round trip), with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and the chance to spot ibex.

Access: Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval is reached by road from Samoëns. A car park is available at the entrance to the Cirque (beware, busy in high season).

  • Transport: Shuttle buses from neighbouring resorts may be available during the season.

  • Opening hours and regulations: access to the site is free, but subject to certain rules — please respect the wildlife, stay on the paths and do not pick any plants.
